Hello world!

My name is Michael Schreifels. I am a student that, when not working at my part-time job or studying for school, is constantly investigating new technologies and developing web applications (an overwhelming majority none of which will never be published). I am an advocate of web standards (and I use the XHTML doctype and serve my content as text/html so help me God) and have several years of experience in PHP. More recently, I have started a foray into Ruby and the Ruby on Rails framework.

I avidly read over ten blogs regularly, carefully watching and evaluating the trends on the internet. I have not, however, until now, ever created a blog of my own. I now feel that it will help me organize some of my own thoughts and opinions, while hopefully providing some level of insight for other developers (or just regular old people).

I do intend to move this blog to my personal server after my first project (which will be discussed in my next entry) goes live. But for now, I will reside on WordPress’s nice cluster of servers, sporting their sleak default theme until I actually decide to invest some time in creating something prettier and more creative (haha, creative).
